July 29th, 2015 marks the 125th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest Post-Impressionism artists of all time, Vincent Van Gogh. His dramatic brush strokes, brilliant use of color and unique ability to convey emotion through his paintings have inspired millions of people across the world since his passing, and continue to do so to this day.
In commemoration of the immortal works of this Dutch creative genius, The Van Gogh Europe foundation is organizing many activities at museums and heritage sites throughout the year under the theme of “125 years of inspiration.” And you can honor Van Gogh’s legacy by visiting some of these places on two of our cruises. On our Paris & Normandy cruise itinerary, you’ll find yourself within the scenes of many of his famous paintings on an “Artists Walk” tour through the gardens and village streets of Auvers-sur-Oise – where Van Gogh was buried. Here, you’ll also visit Auberge Ravoux, his former home where he spent his final days. We have unique excursions on our Provence & Spain itinerary as well. Go on an “Impressionist Experience” tour to the St. Paul de Mausole Asylum, where Van Gogh once lived and painted some of his most influential works, like The Irises and Starry Night.
Join us in celebrating the life of this brilliant artist on one of our luxurious cruises this year.
